Fume Extraction for Industry 4.0

Our clean air machines are designed to manage the evolving demands of the Industry 4.0 sector. From manufacturing robotics to software systems, our fume extractors are trusted globally.

The Industry 4.0 sector utilises an extensive range of complex production processes and applications to build intelligent, interconnected technologies. From developing advanced materials to robotic and software systems, the safety risks to machine operators across the sector are both vast and varied. Our range of fume extraction machines is equipped to manage the health and safety demands of Industry 4.0 applications. Combatting VOCs, ultrafine particles, resin vapours, welding fumes, metal fumes and more, we help businesses remain COSSH compliant, so they can continue operating safely and efficiently.

Typical Applications

Thermal Cutting

Utilising high-energy heat sources like lasers and plasma, thermal cutting can produce various airborne contaminants when shaping metal components. From metal fumes and particulate matter to gases like carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxide, proper ventilation is essential to protect engineers when thermal cutting to produce industrial engine and machinery components.

Thermal Coating

Thermal spray coating can be applied using various techniques, including plasma and flame spraying. Whilst all methods present the risk of inhaling metal fumes, fine particulates and overspray, flame spraying also increases the risk of exposure to gases like carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide. At Purex, our clean air systems are designed to meet the varying demands of thermal coating processes, extracting particles as small as 0.3 microns.

CNC Machining

Whilst CNC machining is controlled by computer software, it does not mean there is no risk associated with the manufacturing process. Cutting and removing materials can produce silica dust and fine particulate matter, creating respiratory risks for those working around the machinery. The risk of exposure is greater still when the machine is opened, either for cleaning, maintenance or material changes. Therefore, it’s imperative that an LEV system is in operation to adhere to HSE guidelines and protect against illnesses like asthma, bronchitis and chronic lung diseases.
